Rambling Update #6

It has been 12 days since my surgery and today I decided to try and bring some type of workout back into my routine. I started eating solid foods again sometime last week (Day 9, I think), but I haven’t really been eating too well (healthy). I’m technically supposed to stick to light activities, but I was getting restless. Also, I think my lowest weight was around 170 lbs, but I’m up to 7 lbs as of this morning. I think that has to do a little with my poor diet and a little because I am drinking more fluids.

Today I decided that I wanted to walk and try jogging/running for a bit. I walked a mile and then jogged/ran another mile, but it was really difficult. About 3/4 the way through, my throat was really burning. The scabs where my tonsils haven’t disappeared yet, so when it gets dry or if I breathe heavy (like when running), it can irritate the throat. I had hoped to jog/run one more mile, but I decided against it and just walked another mile. My time was pretty bad, I ran the mile in about 10 minutes 45 seconds, which is higher than what I normally run.

I was hungry after the workout and was happy that my mom was cooking something healthy, or so she said. When I got home, however, she had decided to just put pizza in and made a salad. If I would have known that was what we were having, I would have laid something out and cooked something for myself. However, I was super tired and just ate what she had made. Tomorrow I hope to be way better when it comes to eating healthy. I need to get back into the swing of things.

Tomorrow I want to do some at home workouts, probably some ab stuff, push ups, sit ups, etc. I might try to go for another walk/jog/run, but we’ll see. I can’t wait to be completely healed so that I can do more than what I can currently do. It will probably take some time to get back to where I was before all of my medical problems started, but I’m ok with that. I think I can keep my weight down around 180 lbs if I start getting back into things now, which is a lower weight than what I weighed before I got sick (188 lbs).

I hope to have more updates and to post more regularly. I might also change the title of this and make a tag so that I can create a page for these update things. That might be a horrible sentence, but I’m tired and I don’t care. Good night!

Rambling Update #5

The last time I weighed myself was before my tonsillectomy and I came in at 171 lbs. I’m not sure if I’ve lost any more weight, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I have. I mean, I’ve only been able to eat soft foods like yogurt, ice cream, smoothies, popsicles, rice, beans, and that’s pretty much it. I eat maybe three times a day and I can’t do anything too physical. However, I can start doing light activity after ten days, but I’m not really sure what I can do. I’m just ready for solid foods and to get back to working out. This weight loss might not be the healthiest, but I can work with it; do workouts and eat in a way that will keep fat off and encourage muscle gain. Silver lining.

Rambling Update #4

I don’t have much to update you on regarding fitness, but this post from my personal blog goes over how the past couple of days have gone for me.

Rambling Update #3

Haven’t been on here in a while, a lot has been going on. This post from my personal blog has a little review of what’s been going on since Tuesday of this week.

I think I jinxed myself because of the last paragraph. The next day I felt way worse. My tonsils and glands had swollen, I had some white spots on my tonsils, and I had a fever (with night sweats). I was able to feel good enough to go to the wedding, but I was stupid and drank at the reception (open bar, so, you know) and then went out afterwards.

When I woke up this morning, my fever was back (the Ibuprofen had worn off) and my tonsils were even more swollen. It looked like the white spots might have gone away, for the most part, though. I think I might have strep again, which would really suck. I have so much to do this week (look at more apartments) and then I go on vacation. If it’s not strep or something less serious, it might be mono, which I really hope it isn’t. I just want it to go away. Why do I always get sick at the most inconvenient times?

As far as diet and exercise goes, I haven’t worked out and I don’t really eat much. It really hurts to swallow. I guess I’ll just redo Weeks 11 and 12 after vacation?

Rambling Update #2

Since I was moving some stuff from my apartment to my parents house (I won’t be able to move into my new apartment before I have to be out of my old one) I’m a day behind. I was packing, traveling, and unpacking stuff (with some other activities in between) on Sunday and Monday and just didn’t get around to working out. So, today was the first day of week 11, chest, back, and abs. I increased my weights and reps where needed, but I was a little sluggish today.

Tomorrow is Plyo, which I’m going to try to do before I go up to Cleveland to look at more apartments. If not, I guess I can just do it when I get back to Akron.

Rambling Update #1

I just finished week 10 of the classic P90X routine. Today’s workout was Kenpo and then that ab workout I’ve mentioned before. Diet wise, I’ve been good, although I had some pad thai yesterday and I’m not exactly sure how good that is for you. I ended up only eating about half and took the rest home for dinner.

Overall, I feel like I have gotten stronger/can lift more, however, I’m not losing weight as fast as I once was. I know that’s normal, but I really want to lose at least ten more pounds (be around 180 lbs). I have noticed a little more muscle definition, which is nice, but I really want my love handles to be completely gone and to lose the rest of the fat from my stomach. I’m not sure if I should add in more cardio throughout the week or not. I might just start to run more.

Once I’m done with this round of P90X (this one basically being my third round), I’m not sure what I’m going to do for workouts. I’m moving into a new place and I’m not sure I’ll be able to do some of the workouts because I think they’ll make too much noise. Luckily, my current downstairs neighbor is rarely home and when he is, doesn’t care about the level of noise I make. When I grad school, I’m thinking about getting a personal trainer or maybe a workout buddy at the rec center on campus.

One last thing, I’m going on a little vacation in a couple weeks; my family and I are joining my aunts, uncles, and cousins at a lake house down south. I’m a little nervous about getting off track. I’m not sure what type of workouts I’ll be able to get in and I’m not sure what type of food will be at my aunt’s summer home/what we’ll be eating.
